The trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate has finally arrived. We were all treated to a poster yesterday featuring Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor looking like a badass as she walks alone down a mysterious road. This is the first time that Hamilton and James Cameron have been involved with the franchise since 1991’s groundbreaking Terminator 2: Judgement Day and fans are excited to see that they’re both back along with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tim Miller, who is joining the franchise for the first time as director.

In addition to the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, Terminator: Dark Fate also features Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Natalia Reyes (Birds of Passage), Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages). Like all good trailers, this one does not offer up very much information in terms of the plot, but we do know that it takes place after Judgement Day, thanks to yesterday’s poster reveal. The poster says that it is the day after the fateful day.

James Cameron produces Terminator 6, and he was around for all of the big decisions that Tim Miller had to make while putting Terminator: Dark Fate together. From the looks of things, we are going to see some of the older characters pass the torch to a new generation with an aim to spark a new franchise. However, coming in after T2 is a pretty bold maneuver since the last handful of movies in the franchise have all been torn apart by fans and critics. Miller and Cameron made the decision to ditch those other installments and make a direct sequel to the 1991 classic.

For many fans, it doesn’t really get any better than Terminator 2 for an action movie from that era. James Cameron created a stunning and visually appealing movie, which also had some heart, which was lacking from the first installment, but for a very good reason. The movie exploded at the box office and created the franchise afterwards. While none of the movies have been able to live up to the second installment, fans have been excited about all of them until they reach theaters.

Will Tim Miller and the newcomers to the cast be able to pull off some magic with Terminator: Dark Fate? That remains to be seen, but this first look at the movie should go a long way in building up excitement for the installment and the future of the Terminator franchise as a whole. Regardless, there’s a lot to look forward to for fans, which means the promotional campaign for the movie should also be something to look forward too. We should get a few more looks at the highly anticipated sequel in the months to come. Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1st and you can check out the first trailer below, thanks to the Terminator Twitter account while we wait for the end of the year.
